I, Chris, am happy to announce that my mom is working on a novel! Since she was 8 years old, she's loved writing short chapter books on the computer for herself and working on all sorts of writing projects, but now she's finally decided to stick to this specific novel she's writing.
My mom hopes that she'll be done writing the first draft (she's hoping it will be around 50,000 words) in February or March of this year. She'll have to revise the entire novel after that, which will take some time, so she expects to self-publish it on Amazon by August. A few days before my mom began writing her novel, she had a pen-pal design the book cover.
For those of you wondering what her novel is about, here's the summary:
Polar and Mika are the dogs of Kaylie and Samuel Wyatt. When an accident causes the family's home in New Jersey to burn down, Polar and Mika are left to fend for themselves in the wilderness and care for the couple's baby daughter, Ella. Assuming that Kaylie and Samuel are dead, the dogs must learn to adapt to their life in the shadow of a pine forest. Polar does everything he can to take care of Ella, and Mika befriends an intriguing woodland creature, but the domestic heritage and close ties the dogs share with each other and outsiders could mean for destruction.
Stay tuned for DIRE ALLEGIANCE.
