Today I'm linking to Arty for his "No Tricks, Just Treats For Shelters" phenomenon! Blogville is doing their part in giving back this Halloween for doggies, kitties, and other critters who aren't as fortunate as us. It's sad thinking there are some animals that don't have homes. A while back I wrote this poem about the less fortunate critters.
As I curled up in my cozy cage
And laid on my cozy bed
I looked up and was thankful for
The roof above my head
I frowned just for a moment
As I looked down at my bone
For I knew that there were dogs out there
Who didn't have a home
Who don't quite know what love is
What it's like to go for strolls
To sniff the flowers and walk for hours
And lift their legs on poles
At dawn I ate my kibble
And smacked my chops with glee
Yet there were still some dogs out there
Without kibbles to eat
As I played with my fave squeaky toy
On a comfy sofa seated
I remembered dogs who don't have toys
To play with when they're needed
Dogs and cats need loving homes
Play, and bellies full
So humans, can you help them out?
And save the animals?
I wrote this poem a while back in a post about ways people can help animals, but this time is different because now it's up to the pups, kitties, and critters to help homeless animals! Guess what I'll be doing today to help some animals?
I'll be donating $10 to the D.R.E.A.M Dachshund Rescue, $8 to the All About Cats Rescue, and $5 to the Small Angels Rescue Inc! The D.R.E.A.M Dachshund Rescue saves the lives of sweet Doxies like me, the All About Cats Rescue saves homeless kitties (my three kitty bros were adopted from there!), and the Small Angels Rescue Inc saves the lives of critters like guinea pigs, rats, mice, ferrets, gerbils, rabbits, and more!
Two of the rescues are located in Georgia and the small pet rescue is located in the north...I decided that instead of donating just to one rescue, a simple dog rescue, why not help other critters like kitties and rodents? I hope the green papers we donated will make a difference in the lives of those animals!
I think it's super impawtent to look beyond our pawfect and purrrrfect lives and help our anipals that don't have roofs above their heads or bowls of kibble every day. Plenty of my pals in Blogville are rescue pets, and they will hopefully be inspired to give back this weekend, too! I'm from a reputable breeder, so I've always been loved and cared for, but that doesn't mean I should ignore the pleas of doggies and kitties who need help.
What will you do to help animals in need?
Oh, and here's today's campaign poster! (Thanks, Oreo!)
