Idea

Christmas here!

My mom is only 13 1/2 years old so she doesn't have to worry too much about the future just yet, but she does like to think about what she'd like to do as an adult. You probably now that she wants to work as a dog trainer (she works hard to understand dog body language and positive training) and she is pretty good at it. She's almost housebroken me, she's taught me dozens of tricks and basic manners, and she loves training any dog she can get her hands on. I'm not trying to brag about her, but I was just trying to clarify she loves training doggies!

Anyway, my momma is paying me in 87 dog biscuits to post an idea she had...my mom is a huge advocate for pet rescue and ending breed specific legislation. She loves the Pit Bull breed and has had the opportunity to spend time with plenty of Pit Bulls with all sorts of different temperaments.

Well, my mom's idea is when she's an adult she wants to buy a small store (nothing bigger than the size of a small coffee shop) and it will be called "Pit Stop: Pit Bull Education & Adoption Center". She says her store will have it's own rescue, and she will have adoptable Pit Bulls there for people to get to know and adopt. She'll buy a chain link indoor kennel with dividers to keep the doggies in. There are lots of Pit Bulls in shelters that she could bring to Pit Stop. My mom also wants to train the dogs to make sure they're all ready to go for their furever homes.

Oh, and the education part of it? She would not only make brochures that state the facts of how Pit Bulls aren't actually bad dogs, but she would always be available to talk to people about the breed and help them work through their fears of the breed. She wants to show people that even though there are aggressive Pit Bulls out there, there are also aggressive Labs. There are aggressive Beagles. Heck, there are even aggressive Dachshunds. She wants to show people that it's how the dogs are raised, not the stereotypes people label them with.

What do you guys think? Do you like the idea of Pit Stop?

P.S. The Pawlympics have been running smoothly so far! Today's events Boxing (click here to go to Casey and Jessie's blog for that event) and Synchronized Napping! Click here to head over to Katy and Angel Bailey's blog for that event. Have a grrrreat day!

  3. That's a very good ambition! Maybe she should go a little farther and go to vet school!

  4. We agreed with the vet school idea. It's going to take money to get the Pit Stop up and running and it's all related. It's always a good idea for a woman to be financially secure on her own.

  11. That is a super idea and I wish your momma all the luck with her own PITSTOP. Maybe she is the one who can change the minds of so much people who judge a dog by it's breed.... instead to judge the humans who treat this dogs so awful....

  14. I definitely agree that a dog is the way it is depending on how it was raised. And I think the Pit Stop idea is a great idea! Good luck with it :)
