Your Questions Answered!

Bow wow, this is Christmas speaking! Yesterday at my political podium I told you all to ask me some questions that I'd answer today. Well, I got a lot of hot diggity pawsome questions from you all, and here are the answers!

Q. Is it safe to ask questions with your 'personnel' watching us like that??!!! Seriously though, Christmas, given the state of world pawliticks these days which is nothing but divisive, what would you say is the one thing here in Blogville that will keep things stuck together??? Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

A. Great question! This might be the most cliche answer to such questions and at first it might sound almost cheesy, but the answer is love. It's true. If the peeps didn't love us (the pets) would there be a Blogville? Blogville is a place where peeps love their pets enough to share their heartfelt adventures with them. They love the pets they read about enough to comment on their blogs. They love other Blogville humans enough to host a retreat for them all to meet with their furry friends. Without love, we would be without Blogville, and as a candy date, on behalf of the whole of Blogville, Blogville is one of the most impawtent things to me and it wouldn't be here without love.

Q. OK, here's a tough one . . . what is your stance on fireworks?

Your Pals,

Murphy & Stanley

A. First thing's first...my mom has never seen me around fireworks and I've never heard fireworks in my time with my momma. I am very well behaved, so my mom thinks I might be a little nervous, but she doesn't think I'd go bonkers! Thunder doesn't really bother me either, as long as I don't have to go outside in the rain! I do have to go out in the rain sometimes so I don't lift my leg on the walls. I still make my mom happy though by peeing outside in the rain so then I can go back inside and warm up!

Q. Well, Chris, you probably know I am an ambassadog for a rescue group. What steps will you take as Mayor to foster support for rescue and finding forever homes for our less-fortunate brothers and sisters out there? From Casey

A. First of all, I just wanted to say I am NOT a rescue dog. I am from a reputable breeder, and the only reason my mom got a dog from a breeder is for a show dog. If she wasn't looking for  a show dog, she would have rescued a dog, but she learned that getting a dog from a great breeder can be a great thing! Anyway, I might not be a rescue dog, but I definitely support rescue dogs and cats and rescues themselves. Well, I might just be a candy date for now, but I give my momma a day each week to feature an adoptable kitty cat from the All About Cats rescue. My mom has met all of those kitties and all three of my kitties bros, Cosmo, Phineas, and Mozzie, come from there. I will give my momma some more time on my blog if I become mayor to discuss rescue stuff and I'll also look into it myself. I believe every animal deserves a home, even though not every home deserves (or can handle) an animal. I will definitely give some time for rescue doggies, too, to write on my blog and I'll share heartfelt adoption tales, too. Every animal matters, and us Blogville pets have the opportunity to share about them and be a voice for them!

Q. My question is....Are hot dogs part of the food pyramid at your house or is there a no hot dog policy?
Sincerely
Madi your bfff

A. What an interesting (and usually very uncomfortable) question for a Dachshund! Let's take a look back 87 years ago when butchers sold long pieces of sausage that looked an awful lot like weenie dogs. Because of their resemblance to the breed, the meat was actually dubbed "Dachshund Sausages". No kidding! Eventually they just shortened the name to hot dog, though us Dachshunds refer to them as tube steaks. What does this have to do with my personal life? Well, I let my humans eat tube steaks and as a treat sometimes I'm given little bits of tube steak. Even if I was offended by eating one, they still taste too good to resist! Plus, peeps from 87 years ago named the delicious food after us Dachshunds, which I think is very thoughtful, even if us Dachshunds call it something else instead. Those peeps deserve more respect from Dachshunds than they're getting! The only bad thing about the whole story though is that now some peeps think my breed is actually called a hot dog or a weenie dog! My mom and I both dressed up as tube steaks for Halloween (I went out with her and her family on Halloween night and I got lots of attention!) so that was awkward to be seen in front of my doggy friends dressed as a tube steak, but long story short (too late for that) tube steaks are very welcome at my place!

Q. what are your plans fur summer? will you go on a howl-i-day? and what are your suggestions for a pawfect howl-i-day with dogs? From Easy

A. Pawsome question, Easy! Well, my momma and her family will be leaving TWO weeks from now to go to Naples, Florida. They're visiting their aunt and uncle's house. They have a swimming pool built off their kitchen! Unfortunately us pets aren't coming (well, my mom's pet land snails are tagging along!) but I'll go visit my breeder during that time and all the other pets (brudder Rocky, kitty bros Cosmo, Phineas, Mozzie, hermit crabs Brigadier, Lola, and Harley, and my mom's brother's leopard gecko, Simon) will stay at home to be taken care of by a friend. However, maybe my mom and I can go to a dog show this summer that requires a bit of traveling! I love to travel. My suggestions for a pawfect howliday is make sure your dog wants to travel. Don't just force them to go with you just to take cute Instagram photos on the beach or to give you some company. Of course those are two pawsome things to do when traveling with your dog, but just make sure your dog is having fun! I love car rides (I sleep most of the time) and I love meeting new people and dogs. I'm not a skittish pup! I think a fun place to travel would be Germany because that's where us Dachshunds are from but my mom said that's 87 miles away.

Well, that's all for today, folks!
