National Hermit Crab Week: Interview With The Crabby Girls

Good morning, fellow hermit crab lovers! I hope you're all enjoying our Paw Province original holiday week, National Hermit Crab Week! Since Monday, we've been providing you with all things crabs! On Monday, you got to learn about my pet hermit crabs, Brigadier and Lola, and yesterday you learned how to choose the perfect hermit crab.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of interviewing Shelldon and Beachnut, or better known as the "crabby girls". They are two adventurous hermit crabs who live with Sarge Furman, the mixed breed dog blogger at Sarge Speaks Out, which you can click here to read. Shelldon and Beachnut are two very interesting hermit crabs and are full of spunk...just wait and see!

Here's what I asked my friends the crabby girls, and they had some interesting responses that will reveal to you what their fiery personalities are like! I hope you enjoy today's post for National Hermit Crab Week, and by the end of the week we hope you'll be caring for your own crab! The interview I had with the crabby girls will point out some things you should know about hermit crabs and why they're so special!

Enjoy!

How long have you two been blogging for?

Hello, Robin darling and thank you for interviewing us today! We are all agog and can't wait to see all of your questions. Our very first Crabby Monday post was on 12-5-11.

How often do you appear on Sarge's blog?

Our usual schedule is for Crabby Monday posts each week, though we occasionally have something spectacular to share and will create an extra post.

What do you like most about blogging?

Well, blogging is the most amazing opportunity to be social and share our fabulousness with the world. POL. We like letting our friends see our glamorous lives.

How long have you guys lived with Sarge and his human(s)?

We were adopted by Sarge and The Hands in late fall of 2011.

Approximately how old are you two?

Oh, goodness, a lady never reveals such information!! We simply remain youthful and lovely as always. Teeheehee.

Where were you both adopted from?

The Hands adopted us from a Petsmart in Erie, PA.

Why did your human(s) choose you?

Well, we were certainly the most gorgeous and flamboyant in the crabitat there, so The Hands were unable to resist our charm.

Beachnut, what's your favorite food or thing to do?

I must admit that I have a frequent craving for seafood. Oh, yes, I adore scallops and oysters

Shelldon, what's your favorite food or thing to do? The Hands call me "Shy Shelldon", because I am very quiet and, well, shy. POL OMC I simply love to climb, but I prefer not to be seen.

Beachnut, if you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Gorgeous, Spectacular, Fascinating.

Shelldon, if you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Lovely, Shy, Amazing.

What size tank do you reside in?

We originally had a 10 gallon crabitat, but several years ago The Hands gave us a fabulous remodelling and our trendy home is now a 20 gallon tank.

How often do you guys change shells?

We actually change fairly often. I, Shelldon even let The Hands video my shell change and post it on 1-19-15. We especially like to try a new wardrobe after the crabitat has gotten a new interior design. A girl simply must have new clothes from time to time!

Beachnut, describe the shell you are currently in.

My current shell is a lovely design and is sable brown in coloration, very rounded.

Shelldon, describe the shell you are currently in.

My shell is a chic and trendy style with flaired ends, and in the season's most popular frosty white.

How do you guys get along?

Oh, we are the best of friends. We spend most of our time together. We're not really hermits, of course! We do adore a busy social life.

What do most bloggers think of you two?

Well, we must admit that we seem to be fairly popular on Sarge's blog! OMC(clawd) that certainly tickles and pleases us.

What do you guys mostly post about?

We tend to blog a lot about daily life in our crabitat, but we also have the most spectacular adventures! We have had a skateboard park, a botanical garden, a zoological aquarium, a jurasic park, a bakery, a golfcourse and a motor speedway. Oh, goodness we have the best fun! We enjoy our whimsical side. POL

What have you guys learned through your blogging experience?

We have found Blogville to be a most wonderful community filled with love and fun.

How do you wish to leave Blogville a little better than before with your blogging?

We would clack our claws with glee if Blogville found hermit crabs to be fascinating and fun pets and learned how to properly care for us.

Why do you think other hermit crabs should be inspired to blog?

Oh, we have the most fun! We are certainly more interesting than most people would think and sharing our adventures promotes quality care for us.

What makes your human(s) special in the way they care for you and treat you?

The Hands always provide us with the most wonderful decor in our crabitat. They are careful to give us a great variety of natural hidey spots and climbing items and a wonderful variety of healthy food. The Hands are very aware of our special needs and likes and we know they are giving us the most amazing life possible. Of course, giving us blog time is the most fabulous gift for us!

We crabby girls thank you again for interviewing us...this was wonderful fun!

No, thank you, Shelldon and Beachnut!

Below are a couple of photos of Sarge Furman in case you don't know who he is, along with some pictures of the crabby girls themselves!

What do you guys think of the ever so fabulous crabby girls?
