I Took The 2016 Pet Blogger Challenge!

This will be a fun post for all you dedicated followers.

I decided to take the 2016 Pet Blogger Challenge by Go Pet Friendly!

Most of you pet bloggers have probably already taken this challenge, and I thought it would be fun to do myself.

The challenge provides you with ten questions to answer accordingly.

1. How long have you been blogging? And, for anyone who is visiting for the first time, please give a quick description of the subject of your blog.
I have been blogging for just over a year. I began in October of 2014 to be exact. I blog about all things pets, from the latest pet news stories, some dog show news, a bit of health tips, but mostly personal stories including my own pets. I also show my beloved Dachshund and I am a dog walker and pet sitter at the age of 12. I'm a huge pet lover!

2. What is the one thing that you accomplished during 2015, either on your blog or because of it, that made you most proud?
My blog has made many people happy and learn some things about being the best pet parent you can be, so I'm happy that I can contribute to the well-being of our beloved pets.

3. Which of your blog posts was your favorite this year and why?
That would have to be a post I created on October 21st titled "Look How Far We've Come", and it basically sums up everything that happened in a year of blogging, meaning that the 21st of October was my blog's first anniversary. It was great to remember some of the best moments here on Paw Province. You can click here to take a look at it.

4. A common theme from last year’s challenge was that many of us wanted to increase the size of our audiences. Whether or not we intend to monetize our blogs, it seems we’d all like to reach more people. It feels good to know that we’re connecting with others, sharing a laugh or supporting a cause, and it’s motivating to see those numbers grow! What is one thing you’ve done in the past year that has brought more traffic to your blog?
I interviewed two mini Goldendoodles named Murphy and Stanley, who run a blog of the same name. I didn't interview them in hope of more traffic, but just because I occasionally enjoy interviewing fellow pet bloggers. Murphy and Stanley were kind enough to direct some of their friends to my blog, and I doubled in followers overnight.

5. Which of your blog posts got the most traffic this year? Why do you think it was so popular?
My definite most popular post of the year is titled "10 Reasons Why Everyone Should Have a Shar Pei". I posted it in June, and I didn't expect it to gain popularity, but gee, it did! It is currently my most viewed post with over 5000 pageviews! You can click here to view it.

6. What is one blog that you read often – other than your own – and what makes you such a devoted reader?
I catch up on posts from dozen of pet blogs and pet news sources for daily, and I have been doing so for the last couple of years, but one of those blogs really stands out above the rest for me. The blog is called The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, or the IBKC for short. If I found out about it now, I don't think it would be my favorite blog, but it was the first pet blog I ever read and it inspired me to blog about pets, too. The folks at the IBKC not only have two lovely cats of their own, but they foster litters of kittens and find them good homes. I have lots of memories of reading the IBKC blog, and when I look back at the posts I've read over the past couple of years, it feels almost nostalgic. You can click here to check out the blog.

7. What resources do you rely on to enhance your technical, writing, photography, social media, or other skills that improve your blog?
When you notice that there are some cool new gadgets on my blog, it's not like I really planned for it to be there. I just mess around with some blog gadgets that my catch my eye, and before I know it, I've added something fun and unique to my blog.

8. What is the best piece of advice you can offer other pet bloggers?
Be the best pet parent you can be. Do something to stop animal cruelty. Change the world for the pets in your community. Encourage others do the same. Blogging can make a difference.

9. What is your vision for your blog in 2016? Do you have specific goals?
I hope to have a larger crowd by the end of this year. I also want to partner with dog rescue groups and maybe open up a blog shop...maybe a Paw Province 2016 calendar? I know the year has already begun, but hey, I got my 2015 calendar in late May!

10. You have the attention of the pet blogging community – is there one blogging challenge you’d like help with, or one aspect of your blog that you’d like input on?
I'd like to know if all the work I put into my blog pays off. If it makes people smile. If it makes people laugh. If it inspires them to be the best pet parents they can be.
