The Endless Hunt for the Little Red Dot

Today Cosmo, Phineas, and Mozzie were in the mood to play.

I fetched the laser light and the cats were suddenly convinced they were fierce tigers that would certainly catch the little red dot.

If you have a cat, you know that catching this dot can not be done.

Little do our feline friends know that the dot isn't actually something that can be caught.

Cosmo is the most playful of the threesome, Phinny is the runner-up, and Mozzie comes in last.

He still enjoys a good chase though.

Cosmo will run after the little red dot for hours on end.

Phinny will play for a while and then just wander away.

Mozzie will go after the dot and lunge at it.

After lunging, he's in a laying position, a position he decides to hold for a long time.

He prefers to nap than to play.

The brothers are ready to play!

Wait, Phinny insists that I need to snap a cute photo of him before the game begins.

Mozzie comes in at the perfect time!

The game begins, and Cosmo and Phinny have their eye on the prize, which is the little red dot. Mozzie, however, looks like he sees a ghost.

They've lost track of where the dot is! Now Phineas is fully aware of the ghost that Mozzie apparently is seeing, and Cosmo runs around in circles, hoping to catch a glimpse of the dot!

Mozzie and Phinny insist that the ghost is now inside the wall...weird. Cosmo actually sees the dot!

Mozzie and Phinny also spotted the dot after a minute or two, and all three cats went after it! I didn't even try to get photos of them running at full speed towards the dot, knowing that it would just be a blur! Also, Cosmo ran into the wall, but that's another story.

The holiday season can be a busy time of year, but it's still important to make sure to spend time with your pets. You should always do your best to follow your usual pet schedule, like taking the dog for a walk. Even if it's cold outside, you can just put on warm clothing.

If your dog is sensitive to the cold, just give him a nice warm jacket and maybe a pair of dog boots! If the weather is really too cold or wet or anything like that, you can still exercise your dog indoors. You can throw him a ball, maybe up and down the stairs to tire him out more. You could give him a good new bone to chew, or even take him to Petsmart to hang out with other dogs. It's nice and warm there!

Even cats need to be exercised daily. You can't just find a cute kitty, throw it in your house, and ignore it, cats need to bond with their owners through playtime, especially because cats shouldn't be overweight.

I challenge you to engage in playtime with your cat today. Even if it's just for a half an hour, get out the feather wand, laser light, or whatever your cat likes to play with, and just have fun!

Or if you have a busy day, cut out some time to take your dog for a walk. If you have time to read this, you surely have time to exercise your dog!

Have an awesome day!
